# Dimensions - Demo 2

## Generalized Dimensions

The information dimension *D*_{1} is calculated in this applet. Again accumulate a large number of points. The dimension algorithm calculates the measure *p*_{i} associated with each non-empty box *i* and then sums *-p*_{i}log p_{i} over *i*.
Other dimensions *D*_{q} can be calculated by changing the value of *q* and then rehitting "Dimension" (you do not need to rerun the map iteration).

### Things to try

- How does the dimension
*D*_{q} vary with *q*?
- How does the quality of the fit for a given number of points change with
*q*?
